慶祝6月9日鐵路節128周年，台灣鐵路管理局各站規畫一系列慶祝活動，6月7日台中運務段特別開行「2015光華再現山海線巡禮1日遊郵輪式列車」；台東站開行一列次光華懷舊列車、花蓮站則有CT273蒸汽機車圓夢專開列車免費提供給特定民眾搭乘，以及其他鐵道、火車模型展覽等活動，與民眾一同歡度台鐵生日。
