這個譯名在10幾年前的BBS上有被原字幕翻譯者提出說明，
簡單說，原翻譯是把片名翻成"蕭山恩仇記"，
Shawshank本來就是個虛構地名，所以音譯，
然後故事跟大仲馬的"基度山恩仇記"頗為類似，受冤入獄-->逃獄-->復仇等情節，
